Gilbert Masengeli, a distinguished Kenyan law enforcement officer with over 35 years of service, serves as the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (APS). Renowned for his expertise in counterterrorism, border security, and crisis management, Masengeli has risen through the ranks to become a pivotal leader in Kenya’s National Police Service. His state honours—MBS (Moran of the Burning Spear), OGW (Order of the Grand Warrior), and SS (Silver Star)—reflect his exceptional contributions to public safety and national security.

Appointed as Deputy Inspector General of the APS on July 25, 2024, Masengeli officially took office on July 29, 2024, in a vibrant ceremony at APS Headquarters, Jogoo House ‘A’, succeeding Acting DIG James Kamau. With a career beginning in 1989, he has held key roles, including Commandant of the National Police College, Embakasi, and head of the Special Operations Group within the Border Police Unit. Masengeli’s leadership emphasizes teamwork, multi-agency collaboration, and upholding the rule of law to ensure peace and security across Kenya.
