The Directorate plans and coordinates training programs in liaison with training institutions, units and field commands.

Focus areas:
- Conduct training and research to ensure continuous professionalization and adaptability through evidence based approach in policing.
- Conduct training needs assessment in the Service and compile reports for implementation.
- Impact assessment to improve on training design, delivery and refine existing training programs.
- Review of training curriculum and syllabi to address societal expectations, evolving nature of crime and technological advances.
- Monitoring and evaluation to ensure accountability, effectiveness, relevance and ensure meaningful overall mission of the Service.
- Establish strategic partnerships and benchmarking to identify best practices to continuously improve on services and effectiveness.
- Conduct research and policy support to enhance operational and decision making to enhance service delivery.
- Conduct institutional research capacity building to enable the Service generate its own evidence based knowledge and solutions.
- Coordination and management of Service examination processes.
- Any other assignment as may be directed by the DIG.

- The National Police College Embakasi ‘A’ Campus.
- The National Police Senior Staff College, Email Campus.
- The Border Police Training Campus, Matuu.
- The Administration Police Leadership and Sports Campus, Meru.
- The Anti-Stock Theft Training School, Gilgil.
- The Administration Police Service Driving School.
